Kenya Basketball: Newly Launched Kisumu Ladies League Sees Lady Mystics Edge Storm Bees

The growth of Kenya basketball continues at the grassroots level with the newly launched Kisumu Ladies Basketball League, a competition aimed at giving women players more opportunities to compete and develop within the local basketball ecosystem.

In Game 4 of the new league, Lady Mystics secured a hard-fought 39–35 victory over Storm Bees, marking an exciting early contest in the standings as teams begin shaping the identity of the competition.

Storm Bees showed resilience throughout the matchup, led by Stacey Adhiambo, who scored 12 points, while Faith Atieno added 10 points in a strong effort to keep their side in the game.

However, experience proved decisive for Lady Mystics. Former KBF Division One MVP Stephanie Kongoi delivered a standout performance with 16 points, guiding the Mystics to victory and helping them take an early lead in the standings of the newly introduced league.

Despite fielding a younger squad, the Mystics displayed flashes of promise. They initially built an early lead but briefly lost momentum during the game before regaining composure to close out the win against a determined Storm Bees side.

The launch of the Kisumu Ladies Basketball League is another positive step for Kenya basketball, creating more competitive platforms for women athletes. With the season still young, fans can expect intense matchups as teams continue to establish themselves in this exciting new chapter for women's basketball in Kisumu.
